Welcome to the new Ruddock Books website. I am introducing my first book here, Jamaican Genealogy Research: A Concise Guide to the Best Resources, which is soon to be self-published. This book advances my passion for writing and teaching. It leads the way to other books to come on the intricacies of Jamaican genealogy research and Jamaica’s complex and intriguing history, culture, and heritage.
Origins of the Book
The book evolved out of resources and methods I discovered over many years of researching my own Jamaican ancestry. I have generously shared this knowledge with many other Jamaican genealogy researchers through various forums. This first book is intended to reach and help many others in the Jamaican diaspora.
Future Blog Articles
Jamaica’s record-keeping began in 1661, six years after England captured the island from Spain. Future blog articles will showcase the island’s historic archives, libraries, and other repositories, its multi-ethnic heritage and culture, and its intrepid people. In addition, we will explore other repositories in the UK, the US, Canada, and elsewhere that are important for Jamaican ancestry and history research.
Thank you for visiting my website and for your interest in this subject.
